During most years, as religious membership increased, so did attendance, and vice versa. In 1992-1993, however, membership went up, but attendance went down. The opposite was true for 1988 and 2000. In both of these years, membership was down, but attendance went up from the previous year. Therefore, there isn't always a direct relationship between membership in a religion and attendance at religious services.
